The Reading Fire Department has had several instances where drifting snow and ice have created an obstruction for outside vents. Outside vents to gas fired appliances, clothes dryers and other fuel burning equipment should be cleared of drifted snow and ice. Keeping outside furnace, hot water and dryer vents clear of drifting snow will help to prevent flue gases from backing up into the home and creating a carbon monoxide hazard. Your safety is our primary concern. Please take a moment and check for any obstructions. Thank you.
