Good Afternoon, Reading Public School Community,

At approximately 11:15 a.m., there was a fire in a trash barrel in a third floor bathroom at RMHS. The building was quickly evacuated and the Reading Fire and Police responded immediately to the scene and mitigated the situation. There were no injuries reported and all students are now back in classrooms. The fire is under investigation.

I would like to commend the efforts of the RMHS and RISE staff who did an outstanding job evacuating their students from the building in a timely manner handled the emergency very well, in spite of the cold weather.
