This Saturday is the Grand Finale of Reading 375!  Fun, family-friendly activities are running morning through night.

* Start the Day at the Friends of Reading Recreation Kids Fun Run.  Participation is FREE.  Registration is at 9 AM; races start at 10 AM.  Here’s the link to register in advance:

Reading Rotary’s 8^th annual Taste of Metro North is at the RMHS Field House TONIGHT, Wednesday, June 12 beginning at 6 PM.  Skip cooking dinner and share the Stanley Cup pre-game excitement with friends and neighbors while you enjoy delicious food from some of your favorite local restaurants.  Tickets will be available at the door, but are less expensive if you buy them ahead of time at tasteofmetronorth.com.

You’re invited to celebrate Reading 375 AND the Bruins heading into Game 7 tomorrow night with a pre-game feast at the Reading Rotary’s 8^thannual Taste of Metro North at the RMHS Field House.  Skip cooking dinner and share the pre-game excitement with friends and neighbors while you enjoy delicious food from some of your favorite local restaurants.  Event starts at 6 PM, so you’ll have plenty of time to eat, mingle, and be home in time for the game.  Tickets will be available at the door, but are less expensive if you buy them ahead of time at tasteofmetronorth.com.

There is SO MUCH going on this weekend for Reading 375.  At our town’s oldest structure – Parker Tavern – you can travel back to our colonial past at Tavern at the Tavern on Friday evening or celebrate in grand style Saturday evening at Revelry at the Tavern.  Tickets cost $37.50 for each of these events and can be purchased at reading375.com.  On Saturday, head over to Washington Park for Vintage Baseball– a game played by the rules and using the equipment and uniforms from the 1800s.  The game is FREE – bring your own blankets or lawn chairs. Refreshments will be available to purchase under the tent at Parker Tavern a short walk away.  Other FREE events this weekend include: Our Town, Your Story at the Reading Public Library and PorchFest on Saturday afternoon.  See reading375.com for all the details about these fun celebrations!  Also – mark your calendar for Monday – it’s Charter Day!  Wear purple and attend Reading Speaks: Voices of the Past and Present. Details for all these events are at reading375.com.

Monday June 10 is Charter Day!  Everyone in Reading is invited to wear purple to celebrate the actual birthday of Reading – June 10, 1644. You are invited to a FREE event on Monday June 10 at 7:30 PM at the Residence at Pearl Street  – a unique, 45-minute oral history of Reading presented by notable Reading residents. Reading Speaks: Voices from the Past and Present will be followed by birthday cake for our town.
